Braidhurst HS pupils submitted two poems to the Reigart Poetry competition run by North Lanarkshire Council. The winners of each age group have still to be announced but here at the Braidhurst Library, Mrs Scott believes that both entrant are already winners for their beautifully written poems based on the topic of ‘Heroes and Heroines’. So a big well done to Emiley and Ewan whilst we await the results.
Emiley Allison, S2
He saved us from the English,
Many years ago.
We think his hair was brownish,
We know he was six foot tall.
He won the battle at Stirling Bridge,
Fierce and brave standing on the ridge.
Have you guessed who it is yet?
My hero William Wallace.
Ewan Lees, S1
My heor inspires me in one special way,
To strive for the best every day.
He’s made an affect on the world for all,
And if I’m like him, I’m the one they’ll call,
For help in Science and Space,
Keeping up work at a superfast pace.
People will respect me in more ways that one,
But no matter what, I’ll always have fun.
If I was him, I’d feel like the world is mine.
What is his name? Albert Einstein!
